Horace Porter transmittal envelope to Attorney General of the United States, 1869 June 28
Item Description
Sealed enveloped, slit open at right side; on the front of the envelope is printed form for transmitting referrals of cases from the Executive [i.e. office of the President] to the Attorney General, filled in by manuscript in the hand of Horace Porter with his autograph signature; dated "June 28, 1869"; referring petition of pardon of Calvert G. W. Price [?}, Js. o. P. [Justice of the Peace?] of Kentucky, who had been convicted of assaulting a freedman and sentenced to 12 months imprisonment and fine of $150 plus costs. The victim of the assault has not been identified.
