Benjamin Butler, Yacht America, Rockland Harbor, Maine to O. D. Barrett, Las Vegas, New Mexico, July 22, 1888 relating apparently to a tense business negotiation on which Butler predicts success; mentioning an attorney named Catron, and Butler's predictions on national political matters including a prediction that "if Cleveland is elected he will want a third term and will begin to play for it as soon after his inaguration as Lincoln did"; also providing advice regarding Catron. Docketed [?] on verso of third leaf "In re: Catron. Hit every possible blow until an honest compromise is offered. Influence at Washington can be counteracted, etc., etc."
